日本アマチュア無線連盟（JARL）ではアマチュア無線が正しく運用されるようアマチュアコードを設けています。これは米国アマチュア無線連盟（ARRL）から提唱されているものを参考にしたものです。
米国では下記のような文言で綴られております。

| BALANCED Radio is a hobby, never interfering with duties owed to family, job, school or community. | |

アマチュア無線は趣味であり仕事・学業・家庭をおろそかにしない
アマチュアは、親切であること
通信には友愛の心を、初心者には親切な指導を、社会へは奉仕をおしまない

つねに科学的な進歩を求め、能率的で有効な通信ができるようにする
